EPMO and PMO

There are several areas of responsibility that may fall under the EPMO or PMO, depending on company culture, goals, and other factors. Often, responsibilities for these may be shared between the groups.


The EPMO, typically focuses on strategic planning of projects at an organisational level as opposed to focussing on individual projects. Strategic planning, project alignment, portfolio management, resource allocation, and performance measurement all fall into the remit of the EPMO whereas the PMO is responsible for the day to day implementation of projects, maintaining project management standards, policies and methodologies and ensuring projects are delivered on time, with budget and to the quality standards set by the organisation.
